Using the Rest of My SC Central High Kit

My first attempt to use up everything in my first kit from Studio Calico was pretty much a success. I only have a few scraps left, some brads, random alpha stickers, and quite a few mistable arrow Thickers. That's it!! I made two more layouts and a whole mess of cards. Love using scraps on cards.

This post is fairly pic heavy, but there are also two Pinterest inspired cards, courtesy of a challenge between myself and my lovely friend Brenda.
The original Pin link, and below is my version.
And the original Pin link for my second card. Below is my version.
And here are two of my final layouts with this kit. I currently don't have photographs for either... So even journaling is out of the question until I find some good snapshots. For the "Saturday" layout... I plan to snap a great 5x7 of some standard Saturday activity. Then journal in strips and place those on the number Tim&Beck paper.
This last layout is ScrapbookSteals' MWM Coral 2. I plan on taking a Hipstamatic photo of Miss I on her bike. The journaling will go in strips in the top, right corner. There are also misted arrow Thickers that will point at each of the strips. I'm thinking of using my red Thickers that I used a couple of MWM's ago.

Studio Calico: Central High Kit

I was put on a budget. A crafty budget. I've been researching kit clubs for awhile, and had decided to convince my money manager to let me do one instead of the budget. This way, I get new stuff. I also can't go over my budget. Smart, huh?

Anyway... I got the box last week. I wasn't sure exactly what I was expecting. It wasn't full of pretty pinks and aquas, or warm yellows, it was BOLD. Maybe having two little girls has jaded my color choices, I'm used to all the fantastic pastels out there. I wasn't sure why I had a sense of ambivalence, but it was there. And I'm super thankful for it. It was freeing to just cut away into the papers, not worried that I was going to ruin something I knew I already loved. And I created some of my favorite recent layouts.
My first SC layout. I don't have school aged kids, so the lettering paper wasn't my thing. I did however LOVE this Tim&Beck map paper. I am a sucker for ledger paper, and had to add a piece of EchoPark ledger paper that I snagged off of the 3/$1 rack at Artco. I also used a fun font, Pacifico that I had downloaded awhile ago.
I really loved the simplicity of this Basic Grey paper. I didn't want to add too much to it, so kept the embellishing to a minimum to keep the focus on the fun Hipstamatic photo.
This was a lovely sketch by Kerys Sharrock for ScrapbookSteals. As you may know, I do a lot of the MWM's. Usually the lovely Kristy Lee creates the sketches, but this week, she had one of the great DT members do it. I used a Silhouette cut for the circle, and just added fun strips. I did add a cute BG brad that I had lying around.

For this layout, I really wanted to use this adorable picture of my littlest. She's not yet two months old, and has made such a huge impact on our lives already. My husband and I always joke how people must just forget how hard it is to have a newborn. It must be somewhat on purpose, because they don't remember anything about that, until they have a new baby again. This is kind of color blocked, but I wanted to use the red paper that I used to cut the star from the previous layout. And the splatters were courtesy of my 3-year old. I just added more to "fix" it.
This really is just a truly simple card. One of my co-workers did me a huge favor and showed extreme kindness for someone else. It deserves a thanks.

I probably have enough supplies for at least one more layout, maybe two and a handful of cards. I'll post those when they are complete :)

Gossamer Blue August Kit

A few weeks ago, I won Gossamer Blue's August kit from The Scrap Review. It was super fun to open, as it was even gift wrapped!!

I loved making a few layouts of my new little one. The colors were perfect for her, and the items were not what I would normally purchase, but I loved each of them. So fun, and so easy to combine all the items!!

The second layout used strips from some of the pieces. I used the Heidi Swapp banner to mirror a few strips that I put on the bottom of the page as well. I loved mixing the different mists on the banner.

This little card was just made from a few of the scraps, with a Lily Bee card, MyMindsEye sticker and a Crate Paper button. The LB card actually has a hole in it, and it pop-dotted so that the button fits onto it (it sticks out in the back).
Here is the kit itself. There was some great Heidi Swapp Color Magic banners, washi!, my first LilyBee papers and beautiful Crate Paper buttons and doodads.
I am really going to watch the next few months of Gossamer Blue! My husband already purchased me a subscription to Studio Calico (so that we can budget my crafty expenditures each month and not go over budget). I think I really want to switch when the 6 months are over. Pin It

ScrapbookSteals' MWM: Pearl 8

I'm finally getting to the bottom of my Summer of '69 Counterfeit Kit. I loved making the kit, and have enjoyed playing with a mixture of colors and patterns that I may not have normally chosen on my own.

This layout is a lovely moment caught with my two daughters. They are fascinated with one another. It's pretty funny to watch. I loved the frame, and have been wanting to use it forever. In this case, I just decided to use it and not think too much about it.
I also used these fun little people that create a heart in the negative space.
I usually write my journaling, but decided to type this out instead. Sometimes I really love just the simplicity of typed writing, and this font was perfect.
I loved using all of these details. The heart, the button, the feather cut, and all of the little features. I'm glad that I used the little features that I haven't used before. Pin It

Hello folks!! Loving this month's sketch challenge with Authentique Paper. The sketches themselves are pretty adorable! Can't wait to see what you make with them!! Here's my version of the card sketch. I halved the size, and used pumpkins that I used dimensional adhesive with instead of the squares.
Authentique Patterned Papers in Charmed, Spellbound and Haunted,  Details Stickers
