Popping Up to Say "Get Well Soon!

I just love when an idea actually happens the way that I thought it would. I love this Lawn Fawn set (Love 'N Breakfast). It's one of my firsts... I kind of found it behind a few things, under some more in a local store. I haven't really used it to it's full potential though, probably because it's intend is more "love" based. I do love trying to find new ways to use it.

I started by making my card base. I folded an A2 card (Via Vellum-kraft), then placed the fold right inside of the cut line of my largest Lawn Fawn Lawn Cut Stitched Party Banner. Once that was complete, I stamped my images (Love 'N Breakfast) onto some Neenah Solar White paper, then colored them in with Spectrum Noir pens. I used sentiments from both the Love 'N Breakfast and the Get Well Soon sets. Once it was complete, it was a little too white, so I used some Distress Ink (Frayed Burlap) on the white banner. Then I needed some contrast between the two kraft colors, so cut and attached some white, striped paper behind and glued it all down. Last, I added two enamel dots in the holes that didn't cut all the way on the top of the banner.

Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!!!!!

Welcome to the Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!! I was SO excited to be ready and willing to share my love for Lawnscaping Challenges with you this morning. Some of you may know, that Lawn Fawn has become a new addiction to me. So have the Lawnscaping Challenges! Too often I don't get mine photographed in time, or life gets in the way to finish a thought, but this one I have been planning for a few weeks now and am SO excited to finally share it with you!

Here is my project for the hop! I'm super excited about it. I chose to use two of my favorite stamp sets: Gnome Sweet Gnome and Into the Woods. I still cannot get over how cute that fox is, and had to "winterize" him for this card. I also had a blast playing with some of the Into the Woods papers and the Peace Joy Love Mixed Sequins.  

To start this card, I used a Silhouette cut that I altered to better suit what I was going to do with it. I cut off the side with the snowman. Then, I cut the front from Neenah Solar White paper, and the snowglobe itself from a sheet of Into the Woods paper. LOVE the woodgrain! The globe is actually packaging from a set of diecuts! Each of the sequins are stuck to the acetate using Xyron's 3/8" Adhesive Dots. They are perfect for sequins!! I also used my Xyron 9" Creative Station on both the snowglobe and the white and colored sections of the card. It made it SO much easier to piece all of the sections together. 

The background is a mix of Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Broken China, with a bit of Colorbox in Midnight. The snowbanks were cut using Kiwi Lane Templates in Paisley Place and a little bit of the Distress Ink makes them pop. The gnome, now Santa! and fox are both colored using Spectrum Noir markers. Although I did add a little bit of colored pencil on his face. The key was also colored using the markers.

Xyron's 30 days of Holiday Projects: Countdown Calendar

Confession time... I've been listening to Christmas Music for over a week now. Some of you may not think that you have to wait until Christmas, but I never followed that rule. And today's project just needs a little Christmas song to make it just right.

Today's project is super fun, and super easy. Everything is modifiable for both people with and without die cut machines, or die cuts.

To start, I grabbed a Tolsby frame from Ikea. The reason that I really like this frame is that it is double sided and comes with a stand that won't get knocked over by little (or big) hands. And at 99 cents... Can't beat that! I started by taking out the thin plexiglass that is in the frame.

I used both my Silhouette and hand cut (because of course I forgot to count the cover page...) the pages. Each page is 3.25 x 5.25" and has two hole punches on the top. For the Silhouette cuts, I just made rectangles to the correct size, and double checked that the holes would work. All of the paper is from Studio Calico's Magical line, and the embellishments are from American Crafts.

I used a couple of rings that I had lying around. Most craft stores have them for under a dollar apiece. I think I just eyeballed where the ring and the paper would go, but if you are going to machine cut, I would practice with scrap paper before running your nice cardstock through, just in case you have to change the placement of the holes.

I then cut out all of my numbers, 1-25. If you don't have access to a manual or electric die cutting machine, you could easily draw each number, print on white paper, or use stickers.

I then ran all of my numbers through my Xyron 9" Creative Station. Once they were turned into stickers, it was super easy to attach them to each page.

The white paper that I used to mount all of the numbers on was cut to 2.75 x 4.25". I used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach them all to each of the patterned paper pages.

 

Once the white cardstock was attached, I placed all of the numbers next. The trick with this, is that if you are completely perfect it looks great, and if you are a little haphazard (like me) and don't try to force it, it also looks great.

Once all of the numbers were placed, I used my white Signo Uniball pen to add some faux stitching, which makes the dark kraft paper look similar to gingerbread now.

Lastly, use stickers (these are American Crafts Peppermint Express Remarks), dimensional adhesive, some great gems and other patterned papers to decorate the cover and important days. I wanted this to be a perpetual calendar, so I'm not going to specify any days other than Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Now, my kiddos have a non-candy advent calendar that is self-contained (important with a toddler and pre-K kiddo!), and can teach the little one her numbers as she gets older.

Xyron Makes Ombre Glitter Techniques Easy

When thinking on how to show off some fun techniques with Xyron products, I remembered that I had some fun neon glitter just waiting to be use. I had gotten a sweet deal on the set and it was dying to be used soon.

 Gather your supplies.

I started with a card base for an A2 card. I cut a piece of cardstock to go on top of the card base to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" so that it would stand out just a little bit from the base itself. I then ran that through my Xyron 9" Creative Station. It is important to smoothly turn the handle, so that the adhesive doesn't have any gaps.

Trim the edges of the adhesive backing (don't unwrap yet though!!) with a kraft knife. Leave just a little bit on each side so that you can hold on.
If you want a true Ombre effect, you will need to mix your glitter, if you are okay with a more striped version, you can follow the next steps. Use a permanent marker to mark off where the glitter should probably stop and start. This doesn't have to be perfect, and most likely will not be.

Unwrap your cardstock to the first mark and sprinkle your glitter onto the newly exposed adhesive. Shake off. If you want a crisp edge, fold the backing down and use a bone folder to make it straight. If you want it more organic and freeform, don't fold it.

Repeat as many times as you want.

When you are finished with each layer, you can push the glitter into the adhesive to get it to stick more.

I suggest "setting" the glitter with some spray glitter. It won't detract from the existing glitter, and will make it so your project won't leave glitter everywhere it touches.

While this is drying, stamp your sentiment. "Fussy cut" if you want, or use a die cut piece of paper.

When this has dried, add your stamped sentiment and/or embellishments using Xyron's 3/16 inch Dots and Xyron's 3/8 inch Dots. The small cloud pieces were too small to use the entire dot, so I cut them in half.

Once the decorative part of your card is complete, place it on the card base. I suggest using your Xyron Mega Runner (.5" x 100') on the card base itself, rather than on the back of your decorative glitter paper. This way, the glitter won't rub off.
