ECHO PARK!!!!!!!!!!!

Echo Park has been one of those urban myth scrapbook companies... I have heard SO many good things about this company, but haven't seen it around much. Way unfortunate! This company ROCKS! I am now in love with the patterns, the colors, and the characters. The "B" sides, which are mainly monochromatic patterns are fantastic!!

I ended up driving about 25 miles away to find a store that carried any of EP's Christmas lines, and I wasn't dissapointed in the least. I ended up choosing Everyone Loves Christmas for it's fantastic colors.
Here is my "Merry Christmas" layout. I used a piece of Bazzill for the background paper, EP's stickers and used four pieces of paper: Trim the Tree, Snowman, Garland, and the Journaling Cards. The snowflakes and the green pattern is from the "B" sides of paper. I took the Christmas journaling card and cut slits in between the letters and distressed it alot, then the tree stickers and the ornament sticker were placed on chipboard to stand out more. I used dimensional adhesive for the trees, ornament and the brown border sticker. The ribbon for the ornament is American Crafts.

The journaling says: "Isla, Even though last year's Christmas was your first--this year's Christmas is shaping up to be even more special!"
With all of the pieces leftover from the layout, I used them to make cards. The background is from Snowman. The Santa Claus image is one of the journaling tags, the red is from the "B" side of Trim the Tree. The Santa Claus image is pop-dotted so it stands out more. Ribbon from American Crafts, and the base is kraft paper by Bazzill.

I loved this little penguin guy from the sticker set, so I put him on chipboard and cut him out again. He is pop-dotted to stand out. The journaling tag was too large for my sketch, so I chopped it in half, then put it back together again. Used Trim the Tree, the "B" side of Garland, and the "B" side of the Journaling Tags (genius idea EP!) for the paper choices. All peices of paper were distressed a lot. Ribbon is AC and the base is kraft by Bazzill.

The last card (which is not entirely true... I couldn't stop and made one for my Monday Card Madness for scrapbooksteals!!) that I made for EP was this simple, but gorgeous one. I used kraft paper by Bazzill to start with, then added the Trim the Tree. To make some of the trees stand out, I simply cut them out of some of the scrap and pop-dotted them to be dimensional. I then added AC ribbon and used my white pen to add "stiches" and the "celebrate" message.
All told, this was a great addition to my already full scrap area. I am now in love with all of the patterns and designs that EP has in store, and have been looking at their other patterns. I am excited to find new products that will blend nicely with all of the products that I already have! I may have to get on my local LSS' to get these products in store... driving so far away is not always possible! I could always buy online though... :)

Loving the Echo Park right now... Seriously. It's kind of one of those, everyone's talking about it... but wasn't really into trying to find it. Then, saw it. OOH!!! YES PLEASE!!

So, when scrapbooksteals.com had their Monday Card Madness #10... I had scraps and they are love-ly...

EEK! I only wish I didn't have to drive so far away... 25.4 miles (37 minutes away)... Not so much fun. But thanksanyway Scrapbook Nook!

Cosmo Cricket GDT Spot for December: You Could WIN It!!

So!! Cosmo Cricket is having a drawing for a Guest Designer Team Spot for the month of December! This is one of my absolutely favorite scrapbook brands out there! I went on the hunt for CC Mitten Weather products in town, as that is the line that CC is looking for. 2 weeks later, I only found 2 pieces of paper. I went to almost every place within a 10 mile radius of my house, even emailing a LSS across the Narrows (no response BTW)...
So, here are my meager entries (lucky this is a drawing!) since I was reluctant to start ordering things online, which meant that I would have to order more than necessary to equal free shipping. Something my DH would have frowned upon ;)
The three cards are all made using 2 pieces of paper: Woolens and Deck the Hollies. Because I couldn't find anything else from CCMW, I used the chipboard peices that I still had from last years' Jolly By Golly line. I love, LOVE, L-O-V-E how they coordinate without really trying too hard!
Card #1: Wishing You a Sparkling Holiday

Card #2: Snowflakes and Stars

Card #3: The Snowman Cometh

Good luck to all of the entrants!

Mid Week Mojo #17

Here is my "Tiny Dancer" layout for ScrapbookSteals.com's MWM.

I didn't have a piece of patterned paper that I liked, nor do I have mists... So, I used watercolors. It worked! Then, I realized that the watercolors were a little dark... So used a white Chalks ink pad to help tone it down.

The paper is MME, with the pink and brown paper, the B side of Basic Grey's Nook & Pantry. The journal box is BoBunny, and the flowers are from BG paper, with BG brads and buttons. Pin It

Imaginisce: Enchanted!

So... Imaginisce is launching their new line: ENCHANTED!! It is soooooo cute! There are cute pink princesses, frogs, castles, and of course... A dragon.
I'm not usually up for ultra-frilly, way-to-girly scrapbook stuff... But I think that Miss I would be in LOVE with this line!
Thanks for another great set of materials!!

Why do I love the girls in my life???

I love my little monkey, I. She is the perfect image of the combination of my husband and myself. She's smart, and funny, and crazy, and spirited, and just so full of life that even why she's driving us nuts... She makes us laugh.

I know that I'm in love with her, because I smile whenever I think about her. She's my baby.

Nanny's Mini Book

Here is a collage of the mini book that I made for Nanny's 80th birthday! Happy Birthday Nanny!!!

Love the big bow on the front. There is something about gorgeous thick ribbon that just get's me every time!

I also loved the colors. Muted, but fun. It ended up being mainly pinks, browns, and greens. I chose the colors first... Then cut down the papers into squares, rounded the edges and glued it all together.

Genius! Pin It

It was created using a random piece of paper that I found in the 25 cent bin at Artco. Added to that was a piece of Jillibean Soup, some Cricut double sided paper, Sassafrass Lass letters and Cricut shapes :)

American Crafts Studio: 6 Colors Week Challenge with Wendy

I was wandering the internet and found this wonderful challenge... And a way to use some of my hoarded City Park and Blue Skies paper and embellishments!

The challenge itself is to only use six, (yes 6!!) colors throughout the entire layout. My colors are: white, tan, brown, green, pink and raspberry. I know that there is only a little bit of raspberry throughout the layout, but it is such a bright color that I didn't want it to overpower the images.

I used a comination of stripes and dots to mirror the patterns that were in the photographs. Stripes to mimic the slats in Isla's crib, and the dots to mimic the pattern of her bedclothes.

All in all, this is a pretty successful layout. Yeah!! Pin It

MWM #15, and the three Challenges!!

Scrapbooksteals.com is having their challenges once again! Here is my MWM #15: Happy Birthday Isla!! It was nice to finally put a place for her birthday photos. The layout included 5 landscape, and 1 portrait photo! Plus, a variation on patterns and styles of cuts. It was fun to make!! I opted to change the layout a tiny bit to include the rack of cupcakes that I bought specifically for her birthday!! Isla even "helped" me by pushing down the photos so they would stick.Challenge #2 was a challenge. 1 piece of shaped paper (under the circular chipboard), 2 photos, 3 words in the title, 4 pieces of chipboard, and 5 sentences in the journaling. It was a bit of a challenge, as I needed to make sure that all five sentences fit into the journaling circle. So... I practiced.
Challenge #3 was a little interesting for me, as I saw the challenge... and had an idea. The subject was Thankful. We needed to put down someone, or something that we were thankful for. I scrapbooked the things that make me sane enough to deal with the people that I am thankful for ;) Starbucks, my iPhone, and my Pink ATG gun.
Challenge #4 was all about the 4's. 4 brads, 4 ribbons (the two "woof" ribbons, and the 2 in the sticker), 4 stickers or rubons (I included the journaling sticker as one of them), and I included 4 photos and 4 letters in the title...
I love the MWM!!!

AMERICAN CRAFTS PRIZE!!!!

A few weeks ago, I just happened upon the American Crafts Blog and made a comment on one of their posts about a "Patterned Paper Giveaway". The question that was posed as us to respond to our favorite new paper line by American Crafts during the 2010 season.
Randomly, later in the week... my comment was chosen!! I won't repeat it. It was a little dorky of me :) You can always check the link though...
From just answering a question, I was allowed to choose the ENTIRE SET OF PAPERS FROM WHATEVER 2010 LINE I WANTED!!!!! Oh yeah! 24 sheets of lovely, wonderfully, embossed, glittered, fantastic goodness!! I of course chose City Park!
I think I may love the sparkly clouds, and the puppies most of all!!

My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge #16

The challenge for this month's MME Blog Challenge was to was to use this sketch by Annam Stubbington, and to use the color, BLACK.

The challenge said that the layout did not have to be a Halloween page, and since I didn't have any MME Halloween papers, I was very thankful!

I decided to use a birthday photo of Miss I that I had been saving for just the perfect occasion! I also finally (I mean, really... I bought these papers before she was even born!!) used my Pretty as a Princess paper from the Bohemia2 line!! The larger circles are from the BellaBella line, I think it is called Bellezo. The smaller circles are from some die cuts also from the BellaBella line. The transfer title is "Birthday Girl". I chose not to include the blue stars though. I also placed that on the back of one of the die cuts from the Life Stories line. I liked the color... but the line that were on the front weren't the look I was going for. I saw the crowns at a random LSS, and knew what paper (the MME, of course!) I wanted to use them with, but never got the inspiration until now.

I distressed all of the edges, to add more texture. I also popped up the smaller die cut circles to give the page a little more volume.
I'm actually very pleased with the result!! It not only met the challenge requirements... But I LOVE IT!!!! Thanks MME!!

MWM's 1-12--I'm part of the Diamond Club!!

So the following (or preceding, if you go chronologically), is my entries for www.scrapbooksteals.com 's Mid Week Mojo's!!

I decided to turn all of these fantastic layout designs into a calendar. Seems easy, right??? It's so not. I think I spent about four hours, six weeks ago, figuring out which double sided paper, matched the month before or after it. Oh yeah... four hours!!! You'd think that picking 13 pieces of paper would be easier. I mixed lines and styles, as well as colors... This allowed for various embellishments to be used, as well as different kinds of photos displayed!!

Since I decided that I was going to use the MWM's for the layouts in the calendars, the color choices were already decided for me. Sometimes, the MWM used for the specific month, was solely because the base paper layer was already "outlined", or patterned in a way that fit for that month.

This was a huge undertaking! I admit... I was trying to get this done for the orignal date for the Diamond Club... but it just didn't happen. Work, the baby, the husband, life, just got in the way.

Like heck! I'm missing the Marquis/Platinum/Double Diamond (that was totally a ski term, wasn't it??)/whatever gem it's called... club!! I'm in it, to win it, baby!!!!
