AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Happy 4th of July

Happy Fourth of July! I wanted to grab a few of my older papers from the Liberty collection and create something that would be both fun and functional.

The pinwheel is a five-point 3D pinwheel, that has been glued to a straw. Instead of the center that was present in the cut file, I just added a simple vintage brad. This was then glued into the inside of the star gift bag. Gluing it in the bag makes the placement of the pinwheel permanent. Hot glue works the best for this.

The front of the star gift bag is a layered front. The star is simply white cardstock that has been glued using liquid glue, and then the layers of the Liberty collection papers are layered with foam adhesive.

To top this packaging off, simply find white or white patterned tissue and add in your present. No present... This also doubles as a home decor item! Hope this inspires you, and have a great 4th of July.

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Valentine's Day Love Notes Wreath

This wreath began as simply a fun paper mache base that I purchased at a craft store. I glued and trimmed papers (Two & Three) from the Love Notes collection to the base, sanding edges to perfectly match the shape.

Once the paper covered the front, inside and outside of the heart-shaped wreath, I hot glued the pom pom ribbon in place.

Took the sticker banner from the Details sticker sheet and used dimensional adhesive to layer the stickers onto slightly larger banner pieces (I just used the sticker as a guide). Once those were complete, I hot glued those pieces to the ribbon banner, and glued that in place on the edges of the wreath.

I added a few die cuts, a couple of Details stickers, and some extra embellishments from my stash, and the wreath was complete.

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! I saw these fun little stars in the Dollar Spot in Target. Bins like this are great to find some alterable items. They often have inexpensive wooden or MDF board items that you can simple scuff up and glue your favorite papers to.

Today I used the Liberty Collection. I wanted to make sure that these simple stars popped, so thematically had them represent the colors of our flag: red, white and blue.

Each star has been taken apart to have the back of the metal covered on two (Liberty One, Four), and left plain on one. The red and blue stars also have been covered with patterned papers in mostly red (Liberty Seven) and mostly blue (Liberty Six) respectively.

The rosette in the center of each was made simply with a score board and some hot glue. These were meant to be smaller, so they are cut at 1.5" wide x 12" long, and each rosette has two strips glued edge to edge, then scored at .5".  For the rosettes, I used Liberty Two and Four.

I used some pretty old chipboard letters for this project, as they were the best match for this. The stark white stands out against the patterned paper of Liberty One. 

As a set, this small project holds some pretty big impact. Thanks for looking, and hope that you have a great holiday weekend!

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Happy Easter Rainbow Egg Easter Decor with the Spectrum Series

Good Morning! Easter is one of the most fun holidays to decorate for with its bright pastels, fun egg shapes, and cute bunnies. This past year, I have loved the Target Dollar Spot for home decor items that are super easy to alter and create some fun holiday items. This great project was asking to be decorated with all of the rainbow colors from the Spectrum Series.

I started with a great wooden MDF beadboard egg decor item in white. From the start, I knew that I wanted to create a rainbow effect in each of the panels using the Spectrum Series.

I measured the panels, and cut each piece of paper (Limeade, Robin's Egg Blue, Orchid, Orange Blossom, Lemon Drop, Tickled Pink) to the exact size. Since the grooves between each panel were narrow, I didn't want to try to sand down, or trim each strip. Once each strip was glued down with liquid glue, I trimmed around the egg with a craft knife, then sanded the edges so it was smooth.

Once the entirety of the egg was covered, the decor piece needed a sentiment. I chose to use one that was fun and scripty. Happy Easter Sentiment from Jenny Highsmith was just what I wanted.

I cut this file from Bristol paper for its thickness. It was slightly thicker than our cardstock, which helped it not sink into any of the grooves. Remember to double cut thicker papers.

The flowers are cut from a retired Stampin Up large die. I trimmed down some papers so that I could just cut out the flower and the center that I wanted.
 
The buttons and enamel dots are all random things that I had in my stash of embellishments. These provided just smaller things to decorate.

Each of the flowers is glued together with hot glue, and then glued onto the board with hot glue. The buttons are also glued with hot glue. This will make them permanent.
Once the embellishments were down, I glued down the sentiment with some Multi Medium Matte from Ranger. I really liked this, as some of the glue had seeped out, and since it was matte, I could easily blot any smudges away without noticing afterwards.

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Happy Valentine's Day from the Design Team!

I turned a Target Dollar Spot ornament and pieces from the Romance Collection into a fabulous Valentine's wall hanging. You could easily use this as a larger ornament or home decor item. The twine is also detachable, so if you wanted a small stand, that would also work. 

The heart is hand cut from a piece of Romance Three. Before it was inked with Distress Oxide inks, I also used a Lawn Fawn Reverse Stitched Scallop Circle Window die in the place where the heart's "heart" would be. This was where I added the interest to this piece.

I layered die cuts from the Elements die cut sheet, as well as various flowers and Pretty Pink Posh Water Droplets. The last detail was to glue a piece of 3/8" Mini Pom Pom Ribbon in White by May Arts.

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: Happy 4th of July from Authentique!!

Happy 4th of July! All of us at Authentique Paper wish America a Happy Birthday. We wanted to wish all of our American friends a Happy 4th of July this week! Before you all go out to celebrate with picnics and fireworks, we have a few patriotic projects to share that have been crafted up with our favorite, patriotic collections!  Remember, as with all Authentique Paper products, we are always Made in the U.S.A.!

I created a cute banner to go on my mantle for the 4th of July. I really liked the pairing of the stars in the blue paper from the Authentique Heroic Collection, paired with the fabulous red striped paper from the Authentique Freedom Collection. I created the rosettes using my Silhouette Cameo, then hot glued those to bases before adding the letters/sentiments. The stars were just stickers that I purchased just for this project from Hobby Lobby.

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: A Colorful Christmas Pedestal Frame

When I created an Autumn version of today's project, I knew that I also wanted to create a Winter decor item as well. I imagined a snowy scene, filled with trees and snowflakes. I couldn't resist pairing the wonderful "snow" that I found earlier this year, with Authentique's Colorful Christmas.

 Today's project started with a lightly painted wooden base. I used some glitter mist from my stash, and added in some painting medium to soften the color. I then added in the trees. The two that were larger, I cut off the back of the tree, making the back of two of the trees flat. This was, they would fit into the frame once both pieces of glass were added back into the frame.

Once the trees were situated, I added in a piece of Colorful Christmas Seven.  This was a perfect backdrop for the trees in front. Before adding in the front glass piece, I glued in the bottom layer of snow. A few pieces were kept loose.

 Even the back of this is pretty! The stars from Colorful Christmas Seven are just beautiful.

 I then added strips of paper covering the front, sides and top of the frame. Gluing them with the Art Glitter Glue and burnishing really well will not only lock the top in place, but also give structure and detail to the frame.

 The tag was a tag from my stash, covered in a part of Colorful Christmas Eight, and a pair of Details stickers. The last touch for the topper of this frame was a beautiful bow.

Once the entire decor piece was put together, a couple of the Details stickers covered a smashed tree section, and added some great detail.

Another season, and another gorgeous home decor item. Wishing you a fantastic holiday season.

AUTHENTIQUE PAPER: "Adore"-able Valentine's Packaging

I wanted to share with you a few quick and easy Valentine's that you could make using Authentique's new Adore Collection. To start, I found an adorable Heart Window Treat Wrap (#114931) that was just the right size for a little Valentine's Jelly Belly box. I cut the pieces from Blushing and the Enhancements page. I really love that black and white stripe that was on the reverse of the images, and wanted to showcase it. Finish them with ribbon and a sticker, and they are perfect!

The "Love" home decor was simply a fun wood piece I found at my local craft store, then painted white and covered with pieces from the 6x6 Bundle. To get the letters just so, I made sure to glue then down first, cut with a craft knife, then sand the edges smooth. Inking the edges last, makes any imperfections disappear!

The last little Valentine I have for my little family is a fun gift bag that I filled with yummy chocolates. I just love the Blushing paper, and had to use it once again. I used almost the entire sheet for this, and it's just the perfect size for an entire bag of goodness! To make the bottom more secure, I glued in a small square of 110# cardstock. To complete this, I used some wonderfully pink May Arts ribbons.

The fun gift tag is created from one of the Components die cuts, and a Details sticker that I hole-punched. Simple and perfect.

 Hopefully this gets you in the mood to create some fabulous Valentine's yourself!

Xyron's 30 Days of Holiday: Decorative Wrapped Frames

For thirty days, the Xyron Design Team is creating and sharing various tutorials focused on the holidays. Today, I am sharing how you can change up your current decor to be more festive with minimum cost. Make sure that you keep checking back on the Xyron Facebook page daily for more inspiration.

I have some amazing art, but not all of it is the right color for my Christmas decor. This is a take on the "present wrapped frames" that many people do around the holidays. I started by taking my framed picture, and tracing the edges in pencil onto some kraft wrapping paper that I have.

I then found the center of the rectangle, and lightly penciled in a triangle. This will become my "tree".

I then die cut various sizes of Christmas paper. For this project, all of my papers are from Authentique's Believe Collection. To maintain the tree idea, I used predominately green patterns.

I then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a large sentiment, which I then ran through my Xyron 9" Creative Station.

I really wanted some sparkle on this project, so lightly adhered a few of the smaller circles to some scratch paper using my Xyron Mega Runner, by tapping the Mega Runner onto your circle instead of dragging it. This way, only a tiny bit of adhesive sticks to the backs of the circles. Then I used some Versamark Ink and Tim Holtz embossing powder in Super Fine Gold to create ornaments.

To finish off each of the circles, and the sentiment, I inked the edges using ImagineCrafts Inks (Bamboo Leaves, London Fog, Pistachio).

Once all of the pieces were inked, I ran all of the larger circles through my Xyron 9" Creative Station. 

Then, I started adding all of the circles, keeping them within the edges of the triangle I had drawn earlier.

To add more detail, I die cut some small red circles and ran those (and the embossed gold circles) through my Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker.

Then I attached all of the small pieces, filling in the gaps with red buttons of various sizes.

Once the piece was complete, I wrapped the frame up as if it was a present, leaving the back open so I could hang it to the wall. Instead of using wrapping paper tape on the artwork, I used Xyron Double-Sided High Tack Tape so that the seams were hidden.

When the entire piece was wrapped, I used a Uni-ball Signo White pen to add some faux stitching around the edges.

Isn't this just a fun piece to have hanging?!?! I especially love the large sentiment.
